Maybe you've seen roses tossed on a rink after a figure skating competition. But have you ever seen a hot dog hit the ice?
This past Tuesday, the Bruins and Devils were tied 1-1 after regulation and a five minute 4-on-4 overtime period. The hockey game came down to a tie-settling shootout. The 21-year-old shooter: Bruins player Tyler Seguin. The perpetrator: A flying hot dog.
Just as Seguin skated up to the crease, ready to slam the puck past Devils goalie Johan Hedberg, a rogue dog got in the way...maybe. It's unclear if the weenie actually came into Seguin's line of vision, but the refs threw out the initial shot, which made it in the goal. Then they ruled Seguin take yetanothershot.
He sunk the puck a second time, sans power of the flying frankfurter. While it's funny now, Seguin's run in with the game-time food staple might have cost the winning shot. And come on, what a waste of overpriced arena food.
