Do something different and forego luxury and modern conveniences - go back to basics where you and your partner will enjoy a rustic, peaceful and restful seaside stay in Suiderstrand, L’Agulhas.
Starting from Cape Town you’ll drive the N2 where you’ll pass through small sleepy farm towns such as Grabouw, Napier and Bredasdorp. Don’t rush the journey to get to your destination, take it easy and stop along at farm stalls such as The Orchard in Grabouw and Houwhoek for padkos.
Where you’ll be staying

A stone’s throw away is the stunning pebble beach and nearby is the southernmost tip of Africa, where the two oceans meet - the Indian and Atlantic.
Pebble Bay Bed and Breakfast is the ideal accommodation for those seeking solitude, space and peace away from the city.
About Agulhas National Park
What sets Agulhas National Park aside from other South African parks is the rich diversity of flora and archaeological significance. You’ll discover old shipwrecks, signs of ancient settlements and national monuments. For ardent nature lovers there are plenty of hiking and walking trails in the area.
Places to discover:
Arniston is the only town in South Africa that has two names, its other name is Waenhuiskrans.
Don’t miss the opportunity to take a drive to Arniston where you can find fresh fish to braai the evening if, you catch the fishermen coming back from sea at the right time. Arniston also has a limestone sea cave (Waenhuiskrans Cave) which is worth visiting during low tide.
Struisbaai is a little more developed than the other towns in the area yet still retains its fishing village charm. Struisbaai has a beautiful natural harbour and has a few leisure activities such as fishing, horseriding, hiking, paintball, quadbiking and diving for holidaymakers to enjoy. Struisbaai also sports the longest natural beach in the Southern Hemisphere, which stretches for a total of fourteen kilometres.
L’Agulhas is steeped in history and is where the two oceans meet. Originally named Cabo dos Agulhas by the Portuguese, which means Cape of Needles, was later changed by the French to L’Agulhas. A must-visit is the Agulhas Lighthouse, the second oldest working lighthouse in South Africa.
Something you might notice when you drive in to L’Agulhas are the signboards, rocks and lamp posts that have ghosts painted on them. Don’t be alarmed, these are pointers for the Ghost Trail (Spookdraai Trail), a hike that you could consider doing.
If you’re in need of groceries you’ll have to stop at Bredasdorp before reaching your final destination as this is the last stop where you’ll find a Pick n Pay. From Bredasdorp it’s about 40km to L’Agulhas - where you won't’ find any shops. Bredasdorp has a Wimpy where you can get yourself a takeaway coffee to see you through until you reach Pebble Bay Bed and Breakfast.
